Buy 1/2 Gram Gold Snowflake Coins Online

Wilson Bentley from the tiny town of Jericho, Vermont made the first photo album of snowflakes, awakening the world to the hidden beauty of snowflakes. At the age of nineteen in 1885, he built a clever new device to attach his microscope to a camera and he managed to take the first ever detailed photo of a snow crystal. It would be an understatement to say that Bentley was devoted to snowflakes.Over the course of 46 years, he took more than 5000 snow-crystal images on glass photographic plates. Every winter, with the same equipment he built as a nineteen year-old, living in the same Jericho farmhouse, he would photograph snowflakes.

These snowflake gold coins are minted using one-half gram of pure gold and are backed by the Cook Islands who give the coin its $5 face value.

The obverse of these gold coins feature a beautifully intricate snowflake design. The coins will also be very uniquely shaped as a snowflake as well.

The reverse features a recent depiction of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth wearing her crown in the center with the words “ELIZABETH II”, “COOK ISLANDS”, & “5 DOLLARS” minted around her image. This reverse is very similar to all coins produced by subsidiaries of the British Royal Mint.
