The obverse side is a gorgeous rendition of the famed Aztec Calendar stone. The stone features the face of the Aztec solar deity: Tonatiuh. The portrait is encircled by three distinct rings containing images of Aztec history.

The reverse features the left portrait of Cuauhtemoc, the last Aztec Emperor, wearing a traditional headdress. Spanish conquistadors executed Cuauhtemoc in 1525, and to this day, his face still appears all over Mexican pop culture. An Aztec border surrounds his portrait, along with the inscriptions “ONE TROY OUNCE” and “.999 FINE SILVER”.
