These 1998 1 oz Australian Kookaburra Silver Coins continue
Perth Mint’s famed Kookaburra Coin program with another elegant portrayal of the kookaburra bird.
Perth Mint is the official bullion mint of Australia. Although it started out as a branch of the Royal Mint in London, it became a statutory authority of the Government of Western Australia in 1970.
Each of these coins contains 1 troy ounce of 0.999 pure silver. Moreover, they carry $1 (AUD) face values backed by the Australian Government.
This year’s design displays a kookaburra perched on a wooden fence. The weight and purity of the
silver used in the coin is imprinted on this side along with the year of issue ‘1998.’
The coin’s obverse has featured Raphael Maklouf’s rendition of Queen Elizabeth II since the start of the Kookaburra Coin program, and so does this 1998-issue. However, this is the last release that bears this particular design, as Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrayal replaced it in the next release!
These 1998 1 oz Australian Kookaburra Silver Coins are wonderful additions to coin collections and precious metals investment portfolios. Coin collections can inch toward completing the full set of kookaburra coins, while investors can diversify their investment portfolios with these 0.999 silver coins.
