Buy 1921 Peace Dollar Tribute High Relief Silver Rounds Online
The Peace Dollar coin was created and manufactured to celebrate the end of the First World War and to celebrate the hope of lasting world peace. Eight of the leading sculptors in the country were invited in November 1921 to submit designs for a new dollar of silver to replace the Morgan dollar, which was in production from 1878-1921. The contest was won by a 33-year-old Italian immigrant named Anthony De Francisci. His design portrayed his wife as Lady Liberty with a crown modeled after the crown on the Statue of Liberty.
On December 26, 1921 the first Peace Dollars were minted at the Philadelphia Mint, and just over 1 million coins were minted prior to the turn of the year. The 1921 coins, which this silver round is a tribute to, are said to be unique among peace dollars for their high-relief design.
Each of these rounds contain 2 troy ounces of 0.999 pure silver. Moreover, they're high relief silver rounds, which means their designs are raised to a greater height compared to the surfaces of the rounds to make the designs stand out more.
The obverse of these silver rounds, as mentioned before, features the designer’s wife portrayed his wife as Lady Liberty with a crown modeled after the crown on the Statue of Liberty. The word “LIBERTY” is at the top, with the year “1921” minted along the bottom. The words “IN GOD WE TRVST” are minted towards the bottom of the round as well.
The reverse of these silver rounds features a regal looking bald eagle the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” are minted along the top with the words “E PLURIBUS UNUM” just below. The words “TWO TROY OZ” and “.999 FINE SILVER” are minted towards the bottom of the round and the word “PEACE” is minted at the very bottom of the round.
