SD Bullion is proud to remind us of important history with the Appeal to Heaven Silver Round from Intaglio Mint. This round showcases the “An Appeal to Heaven” flag which has a rich history in the Revolutionary War. George Washington had a personal secret navy of six ships, all six had the “An Appeal to Heaven” flag upon them. This flag was later adopted by the massachusetts state navy on July 26, 1776.

Other notable people have been influenced by this flag, like Thomas Jefferson and John Locke. “Appeal to Heaven” appears several times in Locke’s writing, “Two Treatises of Government.” The phrase means after all other options of obtaining justice, an “Appeal to Heaven” is the only thing left. The flag is a white flag with an evergreen tree centered and “An Appeal to Heaven” in stitching along the top of the flag.

Intaglio Mint has done a masterful job creating a brilliant round that capture’s American history. This quality is not a surprise coming from one of the most highly renowned privately-owned mints in America.

The obverse of the round depicts a portrait of George Washington on a compass background. The bottom of the obverse has a sea with the six ships of Washington’s secret navy.

The reverse of the round presents a bald eagle flying the “An Appeal To Heaven” flag” in one talon and six arrows in the other. Around the circumference is thirteen stars representing the colonies.
