Introducing the 2014 1 Kilo Koala Silver Coins at SD Bullion.
Since its inception in 2007, the Perth Mint's Silver Koala Coin program has been a favorite among collectors and silver bullion investors. The koala is a marsupial native to Australia's continent, and the designs change every year to honor the diversity of Australian wildlife.
In 1899, the Perth Mint was established. However, it began as one of three Royal Mint branches in Australia. Sydney Mint and Melbourne Mint were the other two branches, both of which are now closed.
Each of these coins is made of 0.9999 pure silver and weighs 1 kilogram (32.15 troy ounces). Furthermore, they have an official face value of $30 (AUD) completely backed by the Australian government.
The Design of the Coin
The reverse features this year's elegant Koala style, which effectively captures the animal's cute, distinctive characteristics. In addition, the year of issue (2014), weight (1 Kilo), and purity (9999 silver) are all inscribed on the coin.
The obverse features the classic effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen’s name, issuing country, and the coin’s face value all encircle the image.
