Commemorating the Year of the Goat, this 2015 1/2 oz Australian Lunar Series Goat Silver Coin is the newest addition to the popular series run by the Perth Mint.


The Perth Mint is one of the most respected mints in the world, known for its beautiful wildlife-themed coins, including animals from the Chinese Lunar calendar and animals native to the continent. Since each of the Australian Lunar Series’ coin releases bears a unique design, created around one of the 12 animals in the Chinese Zodiac, every silver coin in this series (including this one) is unique in its own way.


Featuring the handiwork of artist Natasha Muhl, the reverses of these coins proudly display three goats, peacefully grazing in a field. This simple design in a tranquil setting makes this a coin worth showcasing at the front of coin collections. Also imprinted on this side – the Chinese character for ‘goat,’ followed by the words ‘Year of the Goat.’


Each of these coins contains ½ troy ounces of 0.999 pure silver, with a face value of 50 cents (AUD). Like all other legal tender in Australia, Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II graces the obverses of these coins.
