These silver bullion were struck by the Scottsdale Mint as a collaboration effort between the American private mint and the Cayman Islands. A protective plastic capsule protects the coins from harm; multiples of five coins are shipped in sheets.


With a relatively small mintage of 50,000 coins, the Cayman Islands Marlin Silver Coins are sure to sell out quickly, as the combination of excellent designs on pure silver has always been popular amongst investors and collectors.

Each of these coins bears a face value of $1 (KYD or Caymanian Dollar); the coins are struck using 1 troy ounce of 0.999 pure silver.


The obverses of the Marlin Silver Coins bear the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Being a British territory, official coinage in the Caymans feature the image of the serving monarch on their obverse. The likeness used on this coin is one of the most popular portrayals of the Queen, created by Ian Rank-Broadley.


An image of a massive marlin cresting the surface of the ocean is depicted on the reverse of this coin. This fish is one of the most commonly seen fishes around the Cayman Islands, and it derives its name from the similarity of its spear-like snout to a sailor’s marlinspike.
