2017-W US Mint American Gold Eagle Proof Set For Sale


This set of four 2017-W American Gold Eagle Proof Coins, housed in an attractive satin–lined presentation case, is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from the U.S. Mint. All four proof coin variants from this year are displayed in this case.


Proof coins are struck with a more precise minting method compared to their bullion counterparts, making these coins worthy of display. Surfaces of the gold are polished to achieve a mirror finish, while the designs are frosted to obtain an attractive contrast between the raised designs and the well-known yellow luster of the gold. Every one of these proof coins is struck using 0.9167 (22-karat) gold. Each set contains the following gold proof coins - $50 1 troy ounce, $25 ½ troy ounce, $10 ¼ troy ounce, and $5 1/10 troy ounce.


Obverses of these coins feature the famous Lady Liberty design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. She is seen striding forward, with US Capitol Building in the backdrop, while holding a torch and an olive branch aloft in each hand. The year of issue ‘2017’ is also imprinted on this side.


Meanwhile, the reverses of the 2017 American Gold Eagle Proof coins feature the ‘W’ mint mark, announcing its West Point Mint source. Additionally, Miley Busiek’s famous rendition of a family of Bald Eagles graces this side of the coin.
