The largest, heaviest gold coin released under the Gold Lunar Series II program this year, the 2018 1 Kilo Year of the Dog Gold Coin is now available at SD Bullion. Featuring the animal for year 2018 on their reverse sides, these coins honor the Year of the Dog.

The Chinese Calendar Zodiac repeats every 12 years, and this release is only second to the last release under this coin program. Perth Mint launched the Gold Lunar Series II in 2008 – capitalizing on the resounding success of the first iteration of Gold Lunar Series coins.

Each of these coins contains 1 kilogram of 0.9999 (99.99%) pure gold. Moreover, they also carry legal tender values of $3000 (AUD) each. The backing of a sovereign government plays a huge role in inspiring buyer confidence.

Ian Rank-Broadley’s beautiful rendition of Queen Elizabeth II’s right-facing effigy graces the obverses sides of these coins. In fact, this image is present on all legal tender coinage in Australia.

The reverses display the portrayal of a Labrador Retreiver dog – celebrating 2018, the Year of the Dog. Ing Ing Jong, Perth Mint coin designer created the designs for this year’s gold coins.

These 2018 1 Kilo Year of the Dog Gold Coins are the heaviest and most valuable coins released under this program this year. Hence, these coins will not only help collectors keep their Lunar Series II sets up to date, they will also be a substantial addition to precious metals investment portfolios.
