Launched in 2016, the Queen's Beasts Coin Series is Royal Mint's way of honoring the 10 stone beasts that stood guard at Queen Elizabeth II's coronation. This fifth release honors the majestic Falcon of the Plantagenets, the beast that was displayed on the seal of King Edward III.

Based in the United Kingdom, the Royal Mint is one of the oldest minting institutions in the world – tracing its roots back to 886 AD. Although the Mint’s chief responsibility is striking coinage for the United Kingdom, it also produces planchets, commemorative coins, and various types of medals and precious metals bullion.

Each of these coins contains 1/4 troy ounces of 0.9999 pure gold. Moreover, they carry face values of 25 GBP as they are considered legal tender in the United Kingdom.

Jody Clark's familiar rendition of Queen Elizabeth II's portrait on the coins' obverses further cements their status as legal tender. The Queen's name and the coin's face value encircle the aforementioned portrait.

The reverses capture the majestic Falcon of the Plantagenets -- the beast that featured on the seal of King Edward III. This beast is seen gripping a shield that displayed another falcon on it.
