The obverse face adds to the coin's excellence with the National Coat of Arms of Mexico. The escutcheon portrays a majestic eagle roosted on a cactus with a snake in its bill. Encompassing the emblem are the words "Estados Unidos Mexicanos,” the official Spanish name for Mexico. The edge of the ½  oz. Gold Libertad is reeded.
