The 2020 Silver Kookaburra coin marks an important milestone for the Perth Mint as it celebrates 30 years since the Kookaburra product line was first minted in 1990. The coin also features a callback to Stuart Devlin, the artist responsible for the original design for the coin used back in 1990, by featuring his original artwork on the reverse of this coin.

Another feature of this year’s Australian Silver Kookaburra is it’s unique security authentication feature. The Perth Mint adds micro-engravings inside the words “AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA” that are only visible under magnification. Also, these 1 oz Kookaburras have a limited mintage of just 500,000 coins.

The obverse of the 2020 Silver Kookaburra features the original design from the 1990 silver Kookaburra coin to commemorate the 30th anniversary of when the coin was first minted. Above this 30th anniversary design is the side profile of Queen Elizabeth II and the years 1990 and 2020 are inscribed here as well. The obverse of this 2020 Kookaburra Coin also has “AUSTRALIA” “1 DOLLAR” “ELIZABETH II” all inscribed around the border of the coin.

The reverse of the 2020 Kookaburra coin depicts the kookaburra resting on a rooftop with rays of sunlight emanating from the backdrop. Inscribed around the border are the words ”AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA” “30th ANNIVERSARY” “1oz .9999 SILVER” and the “P” mint mark is also shown representing the Perth Mint of Australia.

The 1oz 2020 Australian Kookaburra is limited to a mintage of only 500,000 coins worldwide. This makes it the perfect addition to any collection as well as a great option for anyone looking to invest in silver bullion.
