2020 Perth Year of the Mouse Platinum Proofs - Exclusively at SD Bullion

The 2020 Platinum Year of the Mouse Bullion Coin planted the flag as the firstever Platinum Lunar coin ever produced by the Perth Mint. The BU coin was released with a mintage of only 5,000 coins and has been very popular as collectors see it as an opportunity to own the first coin in a storied series that allows for premium appreciation. While the Bullion coin offers premium upside potential, this remarkable Proof Platinum Lunar Mouse is in a class of its own with a worldwide mintage of only 188 coins! Featuring the iconic Perth Mint Lunar design, this incredible coin helps launch the Lunar Series 3 program from the Perth Mint in spectacular fashion as each coin comes with a box and certificate of authenticity. The Lunar Series have consistently drawn some of the strongest international collectors, and as with all of the first coins to be launched in the Lunar program, this release has been very highly anticipated.

The Platinum Proof Year of the Mouse coin comes in its own special-made box that contains an individually numbered certificate of authenticity. There is a mintage limit of ONLY 188 coins for this release, so the COA will have a number from 1-188. The coin, like its BU counterpart, is minted using 1 troy ounce of platinum, with a purity of .9995. However, unlike the BU version, this coin is struck with a mirror-like finish that collectors have come to love.

The obverse of these platinum proof coins features a small field mouse climbing up a stalk of wheat and looking up towards the sky. To its left are the words “MOUSE 2020” and the chinese symbol for mouse. The Perth mintmark is also imprinted on the left side of the coin.

The reverse features a new design from previous year’s Perth Mint items. It will feature a more recent depiction of Her Majesty, with a circle around her image. Outside the circle are the words “ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA”, “1 OZ 9995 PT”, & “100 DOLLARS”. The reverse also has a micro-engraved security feature that is only detectable under a magnifying glass.
