The 2021 MS-70 Early Releases Gold Eagle is graded by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), one of the world's largest grading firms, which certifies these coins as completely perfect, granting them their MS-70 rating. 'Early Releases' signifies that NGC obtained the coins within the first 30 days of the release date of the 2021 gold eagle coin. For an indication of just how rare an MS-70 rating is, only 6,334 of the 191,000 1 oz Gold Eagles minted in 2018 were certified as MS-70. This means that only 3.31% of all Gold Eagles minted in 2018 were considered to be flawless like these coins.

This graded gold eagle will be minted using 22-karat gold (.9167 pure) inside the NGC plastic slab and will contain a total of one troy ounce of pure gold.

With a torch in her left hand and an olive branch in her right, the face of these gold coins shows Lady Liberty proudly striding ahead. The US Capitol Building can be seen behind her, and the circumference of the coin is filled with 6-pointed stars. 2020 will be minted to the right of her, with the word “LIBERTY” minted at the very top of the coin.

The brand new reverse design for the 2021 Gold Eagle depicts a portrait of an eagle. Inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “50 DOLLARS,” and “1 OZ. FINE GOLD.” Mint Artistic Infusion Program designer Jennie Norris created the design that was sculpted by Mint Medallic Artist Renata Gordon.
