The Libertad Design

The design showcased in this collection celebrates the Mexican Independence, and the symbols used in it reflect this landmark.

The obverse features the current Coat of Arms, the official seal of Mexico. The words around the main picture read: “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.”

The reverse depicts the Angel of Independence - the Winged Victory - with two volcanos on her back. On this side, the engravings inform the coin's weight, metal content, and purity: “1/10 ONZA ORO PURO”, “LEY .999”, and year of mintage. 

The Mexican Mint

The Mexican Mint is the oldest in the Americas. Founded in 1535, while the nation was still a Spanish colony, the company aimed to decrease the coin’s production costs by refining locally the gold collected in the Mexican ores.
