The Design

The motif of the Libertad Collection celebrates the Mexican Independence in 1821. 

The reverse showcases the Angel of Independence, the Roman Goddess of Victory that became a feminine symbol of the nation. In the background, the Angel has two volcanos behind her, which carry a beautiful folk love story. The inscriptions on the obverse detail the coin’s weight, metal content, and purity: “1/20 ONZA ORO PURO” and “LEY .999.”

The obverse depicts Mexicans’ pride through the emblematic seal, featuring the eagle as the nation defeating the Spanish domination, represented by a rattlesnake. The words around the image are: “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.”

The Limited Series
