When altering perspectives, this trident becomes a padlock, representing the secure nature of this coin. The intricate detail of the coin also offers security to the coin because of its difficulty in replicating. 

The obverse face of the coin is similar to all years in the past, featuring Jody Clark’s famous effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The inscription "100 POUNDS," "ELIZABETH II," and "D G REG F D" surround the effigy, the last of which stands for the Latin phrase "Dei Gratia Regina," which translates to "By God's Grace, Queen."
