The Morgan Dollar Design

The coin was named after its design creator, George T. Morgan, the US Mint Chief Engraver back then. With a patriotic inspiration, typical to American coins, the obverse depicts Lady Liberty in a left portrait, with the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM” arching over her, and several six-pointed stars and the mint year encircle the coin’s rim.

The reverse showcases the heraldic eagle, with arrows and branches on its paws and the motto “In God we trust” over its head. Beneath the animal, laurels make a semi-circle. The inscription reads “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” on top and “ONE DOLLAR” on the bottom.
