These 1989-S American Silver Eagle Proof coins are graded specimens of the coins. The excellent condition of these beautiful coins allowed them to obtain a grade of PF-70 Ultra Cameo by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), making them valuable additions to coin collections. Each of these coins contains 1 troy ounce of 0.999 pure silver. Moreover, they also bear a face value of $1 (USD) each.


Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) is a member of Certified Collectibles Group (CGC), which owns five collectible certification services. With satellite offices now across the globe, NGC has received multiple “superior” ratings in dealer surveys, cementing its reputation as a top-notch coin certification agency.


Official silver bullion of the United States, American Silver Eagles have been produced at three facilities of the United States Mint to date: Philadelphia, San Francisco, and West. These particular 1989 proof coins were produced at the San Francisco Mint (mint mark – S), which was built in 1869 by Alfred B. Mullet and has been an integral part of the United States Mint ever since.


Part of the first wave of Proof American Silver Eagle coins, these coins were imprinted with the “S” mint mark on their reverses, indicating their minting source. Adolph Alexander Weinman is still best remembered as the designer of the Walking Liberty design that features on the obverses of these coins. Since each of these 1989-S American Silver Eagle Proof coins are encapsulated in a secure NGC container, they are guaranteed to retain their perfect PF-70 Ultra Cameo condition – allowing coin collections to be completed with only pristine varieties of coins.
