Celebrating the Chinese zodiacal animal for this year, Perth Mint has launched the next coin under the world-famous Lunar Series II coin program – the 2018 ¼ oz Year of the Dog Gold Coin. Released along with gold coins featuring different weights of gold, these ¼ ounce gold coins are among the smaller gold coins launched this year.

This release marks the 10th anniversary of this popular coin program that was introduced in 2008. As usual, the Perth Mint has struck these 2018 Year of the Dog Gold Coins in a variety of weights to accommodate a wide range of buyers.

Each of these particular coins contains ¼ troy ounces of 0.9999 pure gold. Moreover, they also bear legal tender values of $25 (AUD) each. The backing of a sovereign government not only inspires trust amongst potential investors and collectors, it also makes these coins eligible for use in various Precious Metals IRAs.

Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II is featured on the obverses of these gold coins. This design can be found on all Australian coinage struck after 1998.

A Labrador Retriever dog is depicted among the rocks on the coins’ reverses, looking over its shoulder – almost as if staring directly at the Chinese symbol denoting the word ‘dog’ imprinted in front of it.

These 2018 ¼ oz Year of the Dog Gold Coins are integral parts of the Lunar Series II coin program from Perth Mint, and hence, collectors wanting to collect the full set cannot afford to miss out on snagging these coins.
