The 2020 Kangaroo is the latest entry in the popular series of coins that reaches back to 1993 when the first Silver Kangaroo Coins were minted. The design of the red kangaroo that is featured on this coin was designed by famous designer Stuart Devlin, and has appeared on many Perth items since the 1990s.

Originally opened in 1899, the Perth Mint has become one of the most well known mints in the world of precious metals. Today the Perth Mint consists of two main buildings, the original limestone building, and a second state-of-the-art manufacturing facility that was opened in 2003.

The 2020 SIlver Kangaroo features the side profile of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II designed by Jody Clark, as denoted by the initials “JC” which can be seen on the Queen’s shoulder. Inscribed above the profile are the words “ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA” and the monetary denomination of “1 DOLLAR” can be seen below.

On the reverse of the SIlver Kangaroo Coin we see the now iconic red kangaroo surrounded by rays of sunlight. Around the edge of the coin are the words “AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO” and “2020 1oz 9999 SILVER”
