The Design

According to the royal mint, Philip Nathan is responsible for the four security features that make the coin one of the most secure bullion coins in the world.

The reverse shows the Britannia holding a trident to represent her naval history and the Union Jack Shield. In fact, the trident also becomes a padlock if you move it from side to side. Surrounding the corners of the coin, there is the word “Britannia,” “2023”, “1 oz”, and “1999 FINE - SILVER”.

The micro inscription reads “Decus et Tutamen,” which means “an ornament and a safeguard.”

The obverse design will feature a brand new effigy of King Charles III, a Martin Jennings' creation. The Latin inscription at the borders read “CHARLES III - D - G - REX - F - D - 2 POUNDS - 2022,” which translates to ‘Charles III, by the Grace of God, King, Defender of the Faith.’
