Music Legends is a new series from The British Royal Mint that pays homage to the bands and musicians whose personality, sound, and style has influenced each passing decade – a tradition that is beautifully etched in each design of the coins.

The series' debut coin shows one of the most emblematic rock bands of all time. Established in London in the early 70s, Queen incorporated pop sensitivities to their hard rock sound, redefining the genre and furthering it to a new level. Their supporters flocked to see them perform live, their foot-stomping anthems and unforgettable ballads produced with finesse by their eccentric lead singer, tragically gone too soon.

The coin is produced using one troy ounce of .999 fine silver, like most other British Silver Coins.

The obverse features the most recent portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Jody Clark and unveiled in 2015. Encircling Her Majesty’s portrait is the monetary denomination of the coin as well as the text “ELIZABETH II” and “D G REG F D”.

The reverse features a gorgeous design with “QUEEN” minted in the middle of it. The design consists of a microphone, a piano, a guitar, and the band logo for Queen surrounded by “2020 1 OZ FINE SILVER 999” around the edge of the coin.
