The Design

The obverse is a creation of Hannah Phizacklea. The image features a 1973 The Rolling Stones font, which exhibits a concert scene, with the band on the stage and crazy fans around them. The band’s name is on top while “‘62-’22”, representing the long years playing together, lies on the bottom.

The year of issue, the coin’s weight, metal content, and fineness are repeated in small letters on the outer rim, encircling the image. The information read: “2022 1 OZ FINE SILVER 999.”

2022 is a meaningful year for the United Kingdom because of the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the longest feminine monarch in history. So, besides the honor granted to The Rolling Stones’ 60th anniversary, this coin honors Her Majesty through Jody Clark’s effigy of the Queen.
