The Design

The obverse features former Queen Elizabeth II’s effigy, designed by Jody Clark, in which Her Majesty wears the George IV State Diadem Crown. 

Encircling the image, read: “ELIZABETH II,” “1952-2022”, standing for Her Reign’s duration, “AUSTRALIA 2023”, for origin and year of issuance, “2 DOLLARS,” for the monetary denomination, and “2 oz 9999 Ag,” for weight, purity, and metal content.

The reverse design names the coin and justifies the series moniker, as it showcases an Australian Kangaroo, a National symbol, and its next generation, represented by its joey, in their natural habitat.

The only engraving besides the image is the “P” from the Perth Mint mark on the left.
